Brussels: The level of filling of underground gas storage facilities in European Union countries has dipped below 40%, APA-Economics reports, citing the European Association of Gas Infrastructure Operators (Gas Infrastructure Europe, GIE).

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the current level of gas storage in the EU is approximately 39.86%, a significant decrease compared to the same period last year when it was at 52.6%. This figure is also 16.2 percentage points lower than the average of the last five years.

It has been reported that the total volume of gas in EU storage facilities stands at about 44 billion cubic meters. Since the start of the heating season on October 13 of last year, European countries have extracted approximately 52.5 billion cubic meters of gas from these storage facilities.

The transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe through the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) commenced on December 31, 2020.
