Azerbaijan’s First Quarter Oil and Gas Production Reveals Key Field Contributions

Baku: Azerbaijan produced 6.6 million tons of oil and 12.6 bcm of natural gas in the first quarter of 2026.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, operational data for January-March 2026 indicates that the country's oil production, including condensate, reached 6.6 million tons. Of this, the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field contributed 3.9 million tons, Shah Deniz added 0.9 million tons, and the Absheron field produced 0.1 million tons. SOCAR's oil production during this period was 1.7 million tons, as reported by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Energy to AZERTAC.

Oil exports in the first quarter totaled 5.2 million tons, with consortiums accounting for 4.8 million tons, SOCAR for 0.3 million tons, and JOCAP for 0.1 million tons. The average daily crude oil production was 61,000 tons (450,000 barrels), and condensate production averaged 13,000 tons (105,000 barrels), resulting in a total daily production of 74,000 tons (555,000 barrels). The country's oil refining in the first quarter amounted to 1.4 million tons.

Azerbaijan's natural gas output for January-March 2026 was 12.6 bcm. The Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field produced 3.5 bcm of this total, Shah Deniz contributed 6.9 bcm, the Absheron field yielded 0.4 bcm, and SOCAR's production was 1.8 bcm. Gas exports during the same period reached 6.5 bcm, with 3 bcm directed to Europe, 2.4 bcm to Trkiye (including 1.5 bcm through TANAP), 0.8 bcm to Georgia, and 0.3 bcm to Syria.

Since the inception of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli and Shah Deniz fields up to April 1, 2026, Azerbaijan has produced nearly 675 million tons of oil (including gas condensate) and 519 bcm of gas. The Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field alone produced 621.7 million tons of oil and 247.4 bcm of gas, while Shah Deniz yielded 53.3 million tons of condensate and 271.6 bcm of gas. Over this period, the country exported 673 million tons of oil and 196.5 bcm of gas.
