Baku: Azerbaijan's strategic foreign currency reserves increased by USD 12.6 billion, or 17.7%, over the 11 months of the current year, reaching USD 83.6 billion, APA-Economics reports. This significant rise highlights the country's growing financial stability and economic strength.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan disclosed in its statement on the main directions of monetary policy for 2026 that during this period, the Central Bank's foreign currency reserves rose by 4.3% to USD 11.4 billion. The increase in reserves is seen as a strategic move to bolster the nation's economic resilience.
The statement also highlighted that Azerbaijan's strategic foreign currency reserves in manat terms stand at 142 billion manats, exceeding the projected GDP for 2025, which is estimated at 130 billion manats. This substantial reserve level underscores Azerbaijan's robust economic planning and fiscal management.
Currently, Azerbaijan's foreign currency reserves are 17 times higher than the country's external debt, showcasing a strong economic position on the global stage. This financial cushion is expected to provide Azerbaijan with greater flexibility in managing its economic policies and addressing any potential economic challenges in the future.
