Azerbaijan’s Gas Pipeline Transport Sees 1.9% Decrease in 2023

Baku: In the first seven months of this year, Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines transported 23,423.8 million cubic meters of gas, marking a 1.9% decrease compared to the same period last year, as reported by the State Statistical Committee to APA-Economics.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, 56.4% of this gas transportation was facilitated through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus pipeline. This pipeline is primarily used for exporting gas produced in the “Shah Deniz” gas-condensate field. During the reporting period, 13,217.2 million cubic meters of gas were transported via this pipeline, reflecting a 1.54% decrease.

Last year, Azerbaijan’s main gas pipelines transported a total of 40,348.3 million cubic meters of gas, which was a 2.7% increase from the previous year. Of this, 56.6% was transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus pipeline, with 22,851.9 million cubic meters of gas being transported during the year, indicating a year-on-year increase of 4.3%.
