Baku: Azerbaijan could serve as a crucial intermediary in the complex relations between Israel and Trkiye, according to Ariel Cohen, a prominent expert at the Atlantic Council. Speaking on the "Azerbaijan and the World" program, which was broadcast by the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC), Cohen highlighted the potential for Azerbaijan to foster regional stability through strengthened bilateral ties with Israel.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Cohen noted that Israel, unlike Azerbaijan, Trkiye, or Russia, does not play a central role in the region. However, Israel maintains a consistently pro-Azerbaijani and pro-Western stance. Given the complicated nature of Israel's relations with Trkiye, Cohen believes Azerbaijan could act as a significant mediator.

Cohen recalled past negotiations between Israeli and Syrian representatives in Baku, underscoring that neither party desires an escalation of conflict. He praised Azerbaijan's involvement as a "positive peacekeeping factor" in these discussions. Furthermore, Cohen pointed out the persistent instability to the south and east of Azerbaijan, which poses significant security concerns for Israel. He stressed that enhancing cooperation, sharing information, and improving coordination between Azerbaijan and Israel could bolster regional stability and foster peace.
