Tehran: Azerbaijan has made significant investments in building a modern road network within its territory, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk told APA’s correspondent dispatched to Iran. This development is crucial to enhance the efficiency of the North-South International Transport Corridor, which is utilized for automobile transportation.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Overchuk highlighted the importance of having a fully functional infrastructure to ensure maximum convenience for drivers, carriers, exporters, and importers. He emphasized that while control and crossing operations at the Russia-Azerbaijan border are being carried out effectively, similar efficiency is needed on the Iranian side.

Overchuk remarked on Azerbaijan’s substantial investment in its road infrastructure, noting its impact on the efficiency of road carriers transporting export and import cargo and goods. He observed that upon entering Iran, a majority of the trucks waiting to enter Azerbaijan were Russian vehicles, underscoring the close trade and economic relations between the two countries.
