Baku: Kazakhstan's ratification advances the Green Energy Corridor project, said Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov, APA reports. The deputy minister noted that significant progress has been achieved in regional energy cooperation. According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Kazakhstan's ratification of the Green Energy Corridor agreement signed with Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan gives new impetus to plans to transmit renewable electricity through the Caspian Sea. The agreement was signed on November 13, 2024, in Baku, within the framework of the COP29 conference, by the heads of state of the three countries. The document envisages expanding the use of renewable energy potential, promoting trade in clean electricity, as well as exporting green energy, ammonia, and hydrogen to European markets. Elnur Mammadov noted that one of the main elements of the project will be a high-voltage direct current submarine cable to be laid across the Caspian Sea. Through this cable, it is planned to transmit green electricity prod uced in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan, and then to Europe via the Black Sea energy project. The initiative further strengthens Azerbaijan's role as a bridge between the Central Asian and European energy markets and contributes to the transition to clean energy in the region.
