Baku City Master Plan Takes Center Stage at WUF13

Baku: The Baku city master plan has emerged as one of the key discussion topics at the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13), as revealed by the Head of Department at the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, Ramil Jahangirov. Speaking to APA, Jahangirov emphasized the significance of the Azerbaijan pavilion, which draws inspiration from the architectural form of the Heydar Aliyev Center. A symbolic plane tree has been incorporated into the pavilion's entrance, representing development and life, and serving as a symbol of Azerbaijan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the pavilion's design embodies the concept of 'from the past to the future,' offering insights into Azerbaijan's rich urban planning and architectural heritage, along with the history and projects that have shaped the nation. The pavilion also highlights significant urban planning examples from Icherisheher and other regions since the Middle Ages.

A central theme at the urban planning forum is housing policy, with the Baku city master plan being a focal point of discussion. The master plan outlines the historical evolution of urban planning in Baku, detailing the various stages of development and the challenges faced. It also presents forthcoming projects aimed at addressing these challenges and advancing the city's growth.

Jahangirov also mentioned the demographic and developmental dynamics in the Karabakh and East Zangezur regions, where approximately 90,000 people are living, working, studying, and operating. He expressed pride in the ongoing large-scale construction and development efforts across cities and villages, which continue to captivate visitors with their scope and ambition.
