Baku: A panel session titled 'The role of sustainable energy hubs in promoting climate resilience, innovation and energy transitions' was convened as part of Baku Climate Action Week 2026 (BCAW 2026), APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Azerbaijani President's Representative on Climate Issues Mukhtar Babayev emphasized the necessity for increased investment in electricity grids. He projected that by 2030, annual investments would need to rise from approximately $400 billion to $600 billion. Babayev highlighted the need for countries to ensure energy security, accessibility, and affordability, acknowledging that there is no universal roadmap applicable to all nations. He noted the diverse energy systems, economic structures, and development needs within the region.

High-Level Champion for Climate Action and Member of the Milli Majlis, Nigar Arpadarai, remarked on the potential of the green and climate agenda to unify amidst global tensions and conflicts. She stressed the growing importance of regional cooperation in addressing shared challenges.

UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Dmitry Shlapachenko, pointed to Azerbaijan as a tangible example of how regional cooperation can progress from political ambitions to practical implementation. He noted the interconnectedness of energy connectivity and the development of transport corridors.
