Baku Court Sentences Man to 16 Years for Treason

Baku: The Baku Court on Grave Crimes has sentenced Elnur Ismiyev to 16 years in prison following his conviction on charges of treason. The case, initiated by the State Security Service (DTX), concluded with the final court hearing, where the verdict was pronounced.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the court proceedings were conducted behind closed doors due to the sensitive nature of Ismiyev’s work in strategically important areas. The trial was presided over by Judge Hafiz Kamranov, who read the verdict.

Ismiyev faced charges under Article 274 (treason) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Main Investigation Department of the SSS was responsible for bringing Ismiyev to criminal responsibility.
