Baku Engineering University Launches AI Specialization in Master’s Program

Baku: Baku Engineering University (BEU) is set to introduce a new specialization in Artificial Intelligence at the master's level within the Faculty of Information and Computer Technologies starting from the 2026-2027 academic year. This initiative is part of the Computer Science program and aims to bolster the training of skilled personnel in artificial intelligence to meet the demands of the digital economy.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the new specialization focuses on providing students with a comprehensive understanding of artificial intelligence systems and technologies. The curriculum covers areas such as machine learning, generative artificial intelligence, data science, big data technologies, neural networks, deep learning, natural language processing, and cloud computing. Additionally, students will explore the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in virtual and augmented reality, computer vision, and data mining, along with the fundamentals of probability and statistics for AI.

The program is designed to equip students with essential professional competencies in modern AI directions, data analytics, cybersecurity, business analytics, and decision-making. It emphasizes the development and implementation of innovative projects, ensuring that graduates possess the necessary knowledge and skills to tackle tasks in their respective fields.

The curriculum is structured in stages, beginning with foundational mathematical, technical, and technological knowledge. Students then progress to mastering advanced methods and technologies in artificial intelligence and related areas. The final stage involves academic-pedagogical and research internships, allowing students to apply their theoretical knowledge in practical settings and to develop their skills further, culminating in the defense of their master's dissertation.
