Baku: A meeting was held at Baku Engineering University (BEU) with 37 students who will continue the 3rd and 4th years of their bachelor's studies in the People's Republic of China starting from September, within the framework of the dual-degree program carried out jointly with Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), along with their parents.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev congratulated the students, noting that an important academic stage lies ahead for them. He emphasized that the BEU-BUCT dual-degree program provides a significant opportunity for students to enhance their knowledge and skills in an international academic environment while broadening their scientific and professional outlook.
Piriyev highlighted the thriving academic cooperation between Azerbaijan and China, pointing out that the collaboration between BEU and BUCT significantly contributes to developing academic partnerships, student and faculty exchanges, and joint research initiatives. The dual-degree programs at BEU aim to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required by the modern labor market. The rector urged students to represent Azerbaijan and BEU honorably in the international academic arena and apply their acquired knowledge to benefit their future careers and the development of their country.
The rector advised students to engage seriously and responsibly in their academic pursuits in China, to leverage research and personal development opportunities, and to achieve their academic goals systematically. Other speakers highlighted that the dual-degree program between BEU and BUCT, initiated in 2025, covers six specialties: "Chemical Engineering," "Computer Engineering," "Mechanical Engineering," "Chemistry," "Biotechnology," and "Business Administration." This program, structured on a 2+2 model, allows students to complete their first two years at BEU and then continue their studies at BUCT, ultimately earning bachelor's diplomas from both universities.
During the meeting, students received guidance on adapting to their new academic environment in China, meeting educational process requirements, and making the most of development opportunities abroad. Current BEU students at BUCT shared their experiences, discussing the academic environment and student life in China, and offering insights on adapting to the new educational setting and the opportunities available at the university.
The session concluded with an open exchange of views with students and their parents, where their questions were addressed, and discussions on the upcoming stage of study took place.
