Baku: Azerbaijan and the Caspian region could become a world-class energy hub over the coming decades, said Giovanni Cristofoli, bp's regional president for Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Trkiye, during the session titled 'Leaders' Speeches: Leaders' Perspectives on Energy Transformation and Future Strategies' at the Baku Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Cristofoli emphasized the region's rich hydrocarbon resources, developed energy infrastructure, favorable business environment, and strong human capital as key factors for achieving this goal. He pointed out that the Caspian basin is among the world's largest hydrocarbon regions, and highlighted the Sangachal Terminal and the pipeline system as crucial elements that enable the diversification of export routes with a high reliability rate of 99%.
The bp official also noted Azerbaijan's highly qualified human capital, stating that efforts are underway to transform Baku into a hub akin to Houston and Aberdeen. He mentioned that Azerbaijani specialists are significantly contributing not only to local projects but also to bp's operations in various regions worldwide.
