Baku: Janet Golding, the Assistant Deputy Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities of Canada, underscored the significance of the World Urban Forum (WUF) as a crucial platform for international collaboration and knowledge exchange. During her address at a ministerial roundtable at the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum in Baku, she detailed Canada's commitment to addressing housing challenges through strategic investments.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Golding highlighted that since 2017, the Canadian government has implemented a comprehensive National Housing Strategy. This initiative allocates over 115 billion Canadian dollars in federal investments over more than a decade, targeting populations most in need of housing support.
Golding outlined Canada's strategic priorities for the upcoming years, focusing on accelerating housing construction, fostering inclusive growth through strengthened partnerships, and developing cities that are resilient to climate change and energy-efficient. She affirmed Canada's willingness to both share its housing strategy successes and learn from international partners, emphasizing the World Urban Forum's role in facilitating these critical exchanges.
