Central Asian Leaders Commend Preparations for Upcoming CICA Summit in Baku

Baku:A Joint Statement was signed at the 8th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, emphasizing Azerbaijan's important role in the meeting.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the leaders commended the preparations for the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) set to be held in Baku on October 15, 2026.

The statement highlighted the commitment to enhance cooperation within the United Nations and other international organizations. The leaders stressed the importance of multilateral cooperation, sustainable development, and ensuring stability across Central Asia and Azerbaijan.

Security cooperation was also a focus, with commitments to combat terrorism, extremism, and other transnational threats. The leaders underscored the potential for expanding trade and economic ties, supporting joint ventures, and enhancing transport infrastructure.

The energy sector cooperation was noted, with emphasis on green energy projects connecting Central Asia and Azerbaijan to Europe. The Regional Acceleration Center's role in digital transformation in Azerbaijan was acknowledged.

Further cooperation was encouraged in legislative exchanges, environmental protection, advanced technologies, industrial market access, pharmaceuticals, humanitarian efforts, youth sports, and tourism development.
