Berlin: 'By signing the Joint Declaration, we are laying an important foundation for the further development of our relations,' German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said at a joint press conference with President Ilham Aliyev, APA's correspondent dispatched to Berlin reports.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Chancellor Merz expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of relations between Germany and Azerbaijan. He highlighted that German President Steinmeier made his first visit to Azerbaijan as the head of state in the spring of 2025. This year has seen an intensive exchange between the parliaments of the two countries. The signing of the Joint Declaration is seen as a significant step in advancing the bilateral relations further.
