China’s Prosecutor General Visits Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis: Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Baku: Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, met with a delegation led by Ying Yong, Chief Grand Prosecutor and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) of the People's Republic of China, in Baku.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis highlighted the development of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and China since 1992, emphasizing that these ties have been built on friendship, mutual respect, and support. Azerbaijan's unwavering support for the 'One China' policy and China's backing of Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity were also underscored.

The importance of high-level reciprocal visits in enhancing bilateral relations was emphasized by Sahiba Gafarova, who noted President Ilham Aliyev's visits to China and the signing of the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between the two nations. The Speaker also reflected on her working visit to China earlier this year and her meeting with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, discussing interparliamentary cooperation.

The relations between the New Azerbaijan Party and the Communist Party of China were cited as a prime example of mutually beneficial political cooperation between the two countries. Ying Yong praised the high level of relations, specifically mentioning President Ilham Aliyev's visits to China in 2025 and meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The Prosecutor General highlighted the significance of cooperation between the prosecutorial authorities of Azerbaijan and China, which would contribute to safeguarding citizens' rights and crime prevention. The delegation also toured the plenary session hall of the Milli Majlis, gaining insight into the working conditions there.
