Coordination Meeting of Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network Held in Tanzania

Arusha:A coordination meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network (NAM PN) took place in Arusha, Tanzania, alongside the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). The session was chaired by Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis and Chair of the NAM PN.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Sahiba Gafarova highlighted the importance of these coordination meetings in her speech, emphasizing their role in facilitating collective action and effective use of the platform. Such meetings provide opportunities for member parliaments to engage in constructive dialogue, thereby enhancing cooperation.

Gafarova explained that the Parliamentary Network is broadening its scope and enhancing its international influence. As Chair, she prioritizes promoting the organization during her international engagements and shared details about initiatives taken in this regard.

She further noted the emphasis on developing institutional dialogue and strengthening collaborations with other organizations as priorities for the Parliamentary Network. The NAM PN currently holds observer status with six organizations, and eight organizations have observer status with the Network. Memorandums of understanding with partner organizations are contributing to the Network's international cooperation efforts.

Since its establishment in Madrid in November 2021, the Network has organized five significant conferences in Baku, Manama, Geneva, Tashkent, and Istanbul over the years 2022 to 2026, contributing to its institutional development. The discussions at the meeting focused on the agenda concerning the Network's institutional growth.
