COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company Hosts Informative Tours of Baku Stadium.

Baku: COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company, in collaboration with the UNFCCC, has initiated information tours to the Baku Stadium beginning October 28 this year. These tours are intended for advance working groups from delegations set to visit Azerbaijan, along with diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in the country.

According to Trend News Agency, the purpose of these visits is to acquaint participants with the ongoing preparations for the upcoming conference. The tours have provided attendees with an opportunity to closely observe the readiness of the COP29 venue and to express their positive impressions of the extensive organizational efforts being executed within a short timeframe.

The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) is scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan this November, following a decision made at COP28’s plenary meeting in Dubai on December 11 of the previous year. The UN Framework Convention on Climate C
hange, established at the Rio Earth Summit in June 1992, aims to prevent harmful human interference with the climate system. The acronym COP stands for Conference of Parties, which serves as the highest legislative body overseeing the convention’s implementation.

With 198 countries as signatories, the COP meetings are typically held annually unless otherwise decided by the parties. The inaugural COP took place in March 1995 in Berlin, with its secretariat based in Bonn.
