BAKU: Monitoring of transport management in Baku continues as preparations for COP29 advance. A joint operation involving multiple agencies conducted traffic monitoring tests to ensure smooth transport management for the upcoming conference.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the operation included the COP29 Azerbaijan Organizing Committee (OC), the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency, and the Republican Center for Emergency and Urgent Medical Aid under the Administration of the Regional Medical Divisions (TABIB). The tests were conducted on October 26, from 15:30 to 16:30, on central streets and avenues in Baku, with ambulances participating to simulate emergency scenarios. Notably, these tests were carried out without imposing any traffic restrictions.

Further traffic monitoring is scheduled for the night of October 26-27, from 02:30 to 05:30. This phase will simulate the conference’s transport plan and routes, necessitating traffic restrictions on multiple major tho
roughfares, including Heydar Aliyev, Istiglaliyyet, Narimanov, Khatai, Tbilisi, Azadliq, and Neftchiler avenues. Additionally, several streets and highways, such as Lermontov, Teymur Elchin, Niyazi, Nizami, Yusif Safarov, Mikayil Huseynov, Rashid Behbudov, Khagani Rustamov, Pushkin, Abdulla Shaig, Nizami, Izmir, Bakikhanov streets, and Mardakan, Zigh, and Airport highways, will experience temporary traffic restrictions. Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes during these hours to minimize inconvenience.
