Baku: Critical energy equipment provided by Azerbaijan played a pivotal role in helping Ukraine endure the harsh winter conditions amidst the ongoing conflict, as revealed by Ukraine's Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal during a ministerial-level session at the 31st Baku Energy Forum.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Shmyhal elaborated on the challenges faced by Ukraine during the 1,600-day-long Russia-Ukraine war, which included navigating four severe wartime winters. He underscored that the previous winter posed significant challenges, with Russian forces targeting major energy facilities across Ukraine using missiles and drones.

Shmyhal credited the combined efforts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the dedication of energy workers, and the crucial support from international allies for averting the collapse of Ukraine's energy system. He specifically highlighted Azerbaijan's vital contribution, noting the provision of generators, transformers, cable products, and other critical equipment that were instrumental during the toughest winter period.

The minister further acknowledged that Azerbaijan has extended 11 energy support packages to Ukraine throughout the conflict. Shmyhal expressed gratitude towards Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev and Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov for their solidarity and support, which has been highly valued by Ukraine.
