Gobustan:The Diri Baba Mausoleum, a centuries-old monument of national significance, is located in Gobustan along Azerbaijan's northwestern tourism corridor. It is a state-protected architectural site, situated just 1.5 kilometers from the Baku-Shamakhi highway.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the mausoleum was constructed in 1402 (805 AH) by order of Shirvanshah Ibrahim, ruler of the Shirvanshah state. An inscription within the mausoleum reads 'Ustad bin Haji,' translating to 'Ustad, son of Haji.'

The Diri Baba Mausoleum is believed to house the grave of an unidentified Sufi sheikh and is considered a sacred pilgrimage site by local residents. Its location along the historic Silk Road has made it a point of interest for European diplomats and travelers over the centuries, including notable visitors like 17th-century traveler Adam Olearius, Ottoman traveler Evliya €š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬¡elebi, and Cornelis de Bruijn in the early 18th century. These visitors left engravings that provide valuable historical insights into the monument's appearance.

The mausoleum is a rare example of the Shirvan architectural school and is distinguished by its unique design, with part of the structure embedded within a naturally carved rock cavity. The Diri Baba Mausoleum, along with other Sufi mausoleums in Azerbaijan, continues to attract tens of thousands of domestic and international tourists annually, drawn by its rich religious heritage and remarkable architecture.
