Energy Efficiency Information System to be Established in Azerbaijan

Baku: The Energy Efficiency Information System will be established in Azerbaijan, APA reports. This development is part of a proposed amendment to the law “On efficient use of energy resources and energy efficiency”, which was discussed at a meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the draft amendment outlines that the energy efficiency information system, managed by an organization designated by the relevant executive authority, will ensure state control over the efficient use of energy resources and energy efficiency. This system will maintain a register of energy auditors and energy audit organizations, oversee their activities, provide information and raise awareness, assess efficiency potential, and organize the energy efficiency passporting of buildings.

The system is also tasked with posting a list of economic entities and non-residential buildings that require mandatory energy audits. Additionally, it will provide a list of energy efficiency service providers and publish a report on the current status and development of energy efficiency services in the country.

The establishment of this system is seen as a significant step towards enhancing energy efficiency in Azerbaijan by ensuring better regulation and awareness of energy resource usage.
