Brussels: The European Union (EU) has expressed strong support for the significant advancements in the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process over the past year. EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Magdalena Grono, highlighted these developments in a recent post on X. The statement was made on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Washington Summit, which took place on August 8, 2025.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Grono's post emphasized the importance of the steps taken since the summit. She stated, "Today marks the first anniversary of the historic Washington Summit of Azerbaijan, Armenia and US leaders on 8 August 2025. The EU strongly welcomes the series of positive and constructive steps taken since then to further institutionalise and advance the peace process."

The Washington Summit, attended by leaders from Azerbaijan, Armenia, and the United States, marked a pivotal moment in diplomatic efforts between the two nations. Over the past year, both countries have reportedly engaged in several initiatives aimed at fostering lasting peace and cooperation.
