EU’s Kaja Kallas Condemns Iran’s Drone Attacks on Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan, Expresses Solidarity

Brussels: The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, has condemned Iran's drone attacks on Azerbaijan, APA reports. Kallas described Iran's actions as unacceptable.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Kallas stated, "Iran's drone attacks against the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic region of Azerbaijan are completely unacceptable. These attacks represent a further escalation by Iran and increase the likelihood that the war could spread beyond the Middle East." She further emphasized her communication with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and assured that the European Union stands in full solidarity with the government and people of Azerbaijan.

The drone attacks, launched from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran, targeted the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan. One drone hit the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport, resulting in damage and injuries to four individuals. Another drone landed near a school building in the village of Shakarabad, raising concerns about the safety of civilians in the area.
