Baku: The final court hearing in the criminal case of Rafig Goyushov, a former employee of the administrative department of the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan, has concluded. The Baku Court on Grave Crimes, under the supervision of Judge Hafiz Kamranov, announced the verdict.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Rafig Goyushov received a suspended sentence with a probation period of three years. Goyushov was accused of embezzling funds designated for the temporary accommodation of incoming ambassadors and other staff. Allegations suggest he misappropriated more than half a million manats.
Goyushov faced charges under Article 178.4 of the Criminal Code, pertaining to large-scale fraud. In addition, a restraining measure involving police supervision has been applied to him.
