Nakhchivan: An official announcement has been made concerning the closure of the Salt Museum in Nakhchivan. The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic’s Ministry of Culture has confirmed that the exhibits will be moved to the Nakhchivan State History Museum, where a dedicated section will be established for their display.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Nakhchivan State History Museum is recognized for showcasing the history, culture, and both underground and surface resources of the region. It is frequently visited by both local and international tourists. Consequently, it has been decided that the collection from the now-closed Nakhchivan Salt Museum will be integrated into the State History Museum’s collection.

The Salt Museum was originally established by an order from the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on September 12, 2017. Initially, the museum was housed within the Duzdag Hotel, featuring one exhibition hall and two service rooms. However, in 2023, due to a change in the management of the Duzdag Hotel, the museum was relocated to the ‘Nakhchivangala’ Historical-Architectural Museum Complex.

The museum’s collection comprises 138 exhibits, most of which are crafted from salt material.
