First Meeting of Azerbaijan’s Digital Development Council Focuses on AI and Cybersecurity

Baku: The first meeting of the Digital Development Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held under the leadership of First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva. During the meeting, Aliyeva outlined the nation's digital development strategy, emphasizing the role of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity in the nation's future growth.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting highlighted the Council's main tasks, which include coordinating state institutions' activities, establishing a unified approach, and ensuring the timely and effective implementation of decisions. Aliyeva emphasized that the goal was not only to introduce new technologies but also to enhance the economy, attract investments, support local startups, and improve public administration.

Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev reported on the progress of the "Action Plan for Accelerating Digital Development for 2026-2028," which includes 58 initiatives across digitalization, artificial intelligence, innovation, and cybersecurity. He provided updates on the establishment of the National Data Center and the migration of state information systems to the government cloud.

Nabiyev also highlighted the growth of the "mygov" platform and the expansion of AI solutions within state institutions. He mentioned the ongoing development of the Azerbaijan Resilience Cluster to support technological sovereignty and efforts to establish national centers for cybersecurity.

Shahmar Movsumov, Assistant to the President and Head of the Department of Economic Issues and Innovative Development Policy, discussed legislative reforms aimed at digital transformation. Movsumov emphasized that these reforms are based on international best practices and represent a significant initiative in the post-Soviet space to regulate the digital ecosystem.

Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev briefed the council on advancements in digitalizing education, including initiatives like the "Digital School" project and efforts to enhance digital skills among students.

The meeting concluded with further discussions on the nation's digital development strategy.
