Baku: Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Road Safety, Jean Todt, who is visiting the country, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency,during the meeting, both parties exchanged views on the existing cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the United Nations, focusing on international cooperation in road safety and related global initiatives. Minister Bayramov shared details of Azerbaijan's ongoing reforms aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and developing a safe, sustainable, and modern transport system, while emphasizing the country's efforts to ensure road traffic safety.
The discussion highlighted the modernization of transport infrastructure through digital solutions and efforts to enhance road traffic safety. Minister Bayramov pointed out that high-standard road and infrastructure projects are underway across Azerbaijan, particularly in the liberated territories.
Jean Todt, in his role as the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy, briefed on measures to prevent road traffic accidents and stressed the importance of bolstering international cooperation. He commended Azerbaijan's initiatives and progress in road safety, underscoring the significance of maintaining collaborative efforts in this sector.
The meeting also covered other issues of mutual interest, reflecting the ongoing commitment to strengthening the partnership between Azerbaijan and the United Nations in various domains.
