Garabagh University Partners with Istanbul Technical University for Dual Degree Program

Khankendi: Starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, Garabagh University will launch a dual degree program in engineering in partnership with Istanbul Technical University (ITU), one of the world's most prestigious technical universities.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the new program is being introduced within the framework of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 22 July 2025, "On Additional Measures to Enhance the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan." As part of this initiative to expand internationally recognized dual degree opportunities, the program will be fully funded by the state.

The dual degree program will be offered through the Faculty of Engineering and will cover Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. All courses will be delivered entirely in English. Students will complete the first three years at Garabagh University and their final year at ITU. Upon successful completion, graduates will receive diplomas from both universities.

As part of the partnership, ITU faculty members will contribute to the teaching process. Students will study in modern laboratories established at Garabagh University in Khankendi, complete industrial internships in Trkiye, and have the opportunity to participate in summer school programs.

Throughout their studies, students will combine academic knowledge with hands-on experience by working on real-world engineering projects. They will develop expertise in engineering design, manufacturing, technological process management, and innovative problem-solving.

Supported by state-of-the-art laboratories, strong industry collaboration, and practice-oriented education, graduates will acquire the competencies required by today's labour market and contribute to Azerbaijan's infrastructure, industry, technological advancement, and sustainable development.

According to the QS World University Rankings 2027, Istanbul Technical University ranks first among universities in Trkiye and 279th worldwide.
