Georgian Prime Minister Thanks Azerbaijan for Energy Agreement

Baku:Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has announced a significant agreement with Azerbaijan that promises to bolster Georgia's energy security and economic ties with its neighbor.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the agreement guarantees Georgia the purchase of gas at a low price for the next 20 years. This deal is seen as strategically important for Georgia, securing both gas volumes and affordable prices. Kobakhidze expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for their cooperation and friendly relations.

Additionally, the agreement includes provisions for importing electricity directly from Azerbaijan, bypassing intermediaries. This move is expected to save Georgia significant expenses and could generate several million in revenue for the state annually, as noted by the Prime Minister.
