Georgia’s New Ambassador to Azerbaijan Begins Tenure with Credential Presentation

Baku:Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov welcomed Georgia's newly appointed Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Giorgi Zakarashvili. The meeting took place as the ambassador presented a copy of his credentials, as reported by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's Press Service to APA.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Minister Bayramov congratulated Ambassador Zakarashvili on his new role and expressed hopes for his success in enhancing the diplomatic relations between the two nations.

The discussions highlighted the significance of the longstanding friendship and neighborly relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia, emphasizing their importance in fostering bilateral cooperation. The meeting covered various aspects of the Azerbaijan-Georgia partnership, including economic and trade links, energy security, and transportation and communication initiatives. The significance of defense and security collaboration was also acknowledged, along with the mutual support provided within international organizations.

Both parties recognized the regional and global significance of their joint projects, such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, the Southern Gas Corridor, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, and the Middle Corridor. They also discussed green energy initiatives like the Black Sea submarine electricity cable.

Minister Bayramov informed Ambassador Zakarashvili about the developments in the region following recent conflicts, including reconstruction efforts in liberated areas and the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process.

Ambassador Zakarashvili expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and stated his commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan during his tenure. The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional matters of shared interest.
