Baku: Azerbaijan is actively engaged in efforts to restore, build, and protect its cultural heritage, underscoring the significance of Garabagh as the cultural heartland of the Azerbaijani people. Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, emphasized this commitment while addressing representatives of the diplomatic corps at the Khankendi Cultural Center.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Hajiyev articulated that during the years of occupation, Azerbaijan's cultural heritage faced destruction. Despite this, the nation is dedicated to restoring its cultural legacy, which is safeguarded by both Azerbaijani and international law. The restoration efforts extend to all cultural heritage sites in Garabagh and other parts of Azerbaijan.

Hajiyev highlighted plans to visit two ancient Christian church complexes in northern Garabagh, illustrating the country's dedication to preserving religious and historical sites. He conveyed the importance of these sites as part of Azerbaijan's cultural heritage and their protection for future generations.

The visit will also provide insights into the ongoing rehabilitation and restoration efforts. Hajiyev noted that the tour would include visits to industrial plants, acknowledging the necessity for employment opportunities to facilitate the return of former internally displaced persons and refugees.
