Khankendi: Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, recently addressed representatives of the diplomatic corps at the Khankendi Cultural Center. During his speech, Hajiyev highlighted Azerbaijan's early involvement in the global fight against terrorism, emphasizing the country's commitment to combating this global menace.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Hajiyev reflected on the tragic terrorist act that occurred 25 years ago in New York City, describing it as an attack not only on the United States but on humanity as a whole. He expressed his condolences and paid tribute to the innocent victims of terrorism worldwide.

Hajiyev also recounted Azerbaijan's own experiences with terrorism, particularly in the early 1990s, when more than 32 terrorist acts were committed in the country. He noted that the Baku Metro was the site of the first terrorist attack in Azerbaijan during that time. Drawing from these experiences, Hajiyev emphasized that Azerbaijan was among the first nations to join the international alliance against terrorism, underscoring the nation's dedication to this crucial global fight.
