ICESCO Initiates Restoration Mission in Garabagh to Preserve Cultural Heritage

Garabagh: ICESCO is actively engaged in the process of revitalizing cultural heritage in the liberated territories, as stated by Anar Karimov, Head of the Partnership and International Cooperation Sector of ICESCO. He delivered this message at the panel session titled 'SeCure Model - Sustainable and Empowering Cultural Revitalization of Post-Conflict Cities' during the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13).

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, ICESCO had already undertaken efforts in this direction prior to the 'Secure' model initiative. A technical mission was conducted in 2020 to Garabagh and East Zangezur with the aim of documenting damaged heritage sites. The mission successfully identified 46 sites, compiled individual reports, and provided restoration recommendations for each site. Karimov highlighted these efforts to underline ICESCO's commitment to cultural preservation in post-conflict regions.
