Baku: Housing affordability remains a pressing issue for the urban population, largely due to limited land availability in urban areas, according to Shantappa Balappa Honnur, a Member of the Council of the Institute of Town Planners, India. Honnur shared these insights in an interview with AZERTAC during the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Honnur pointed out that several affordable housing models are available that can significantly reduce and subsidize housing costs for low-income families. He acknowledged the global challenges associated with providing housing but noted that these challenges could be minimized for low-income groups.
Honnur also expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan's urban planning initiatives, particularly the implementation of smart solutions, which he believes could enhance housing access for low-income families.
