Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Criticizes European Parliament’s Resolution on Azerbaijan


ROME: Italian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, has publicly denounced the recent resolution passed by the European Parliament regarding Azerbaijan, describing it as based on fabricated claims. Cirielli, who holds responsibility for the Caucasus region and serves as a coordinator for the ruling “Brothers of Italy” party, made these remarks following the adoption of the resolution on October 24.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Cirielli addressed the resolution’s content by referencing historical facts and the current dynamics of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He pointed out what he described as inaccuracies within the resolution, emphasizing the strong energy partnership that Europe maintains with Azerbaijan. Cirielli’s comments reflect the Italian government’s position in supporting Azerbaijan amid ongoing regional conflicts and underscore the significance of Azerbaijan as a strategic energy partner for Europe.
