Samarkand:Mahir Mammadov has been re-elected as Vice President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) during the FIDE General Assembly held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, part of the 46th World Chess Olympiad.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the assembly included elections for senior leadership roles within FIDE. Timur Turlov was elected as President of FIDE on September 26, winning 110 votes in the second voting round and will serve a four-year term.

Mammadov, who is also the President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, first became FIDE Vice President in 2018 and was re-elected for a second term in 2022. His re-election now secures his position for another four-year period.
