Astana: Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport has announced that all general aviation operators in the country will be subject to unscheduled inspections.

According to Trend News Agency, this decision comes in the wake of aviation anomalies that took place on June 22 and August 17, 2025, leading to a temporary halt of flight operations for the carriers involved.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Kazakhstan has emphasized the need for enhanced safety oversight protocols. As part of this initiative, ad hoc evaluations will be conducted on additional general aviation entities operating 49 aircraft at their main hubs in Astana, Almaty, and Karaganda. These evaluations aim to ensure that all operators comply with stringent safety standards.

The ministry has also highlighted that organizations responsible for assessing the airworthiness of light and ultralight aircraft will face rigorous scrutiny. This move is part of a comprehensive effort to enforce compliance and bolster aviation safety.

The inspections follow a tragic incident on August 17, involving an Aerostar R40F light aircraft with registration UP-LA229 in Kazakhstan’s Akmola region. The crash resulted in the deaths of the pilot and a passenger. A task force has been established to conduct an in-depth investigation into the incident.
