Kazakhstan President Advocates for Middle Corridor and Three Seas Initiative Integration

Turkmenbashi:The potential integration of the Middle Corridor with the Three Seas transport initiative was highlighted by Kazakhstan's President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during the 8th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, President Tokayev emphasized the importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, which has seen increasing demand in recent years.

President Tokayev proposed that the integration of the Middle Corridor with the Three Seas initiative should initially be considered at the expert level, suggesting that such a move would enhance existing capabilities and benefit the long-term interests of the countries involved.

He also discussed Kazakhstan's efforts to advance its transport infrastructure, mentioning the commencement of the Aral-Caspian Highway project. This project aims to connect China with the Caspian Sea and further extend to European markets.

Citing estimates from the World Bank, Tokayev noted that the completion of infrastructure projects could potentially quadruple freight transportation across the Caspian Sea by 2040.
