Kenyan Representative Stresses Importance of WUF13 Agenda for Urban Development

Baku: The WUF13 agenda is highly relevant and timely, a Kenyan representative said during the ministers' meeting held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Kenyan representative highlighted Kenya's commitment to international cooperation in advancing sustainable urban development. The representative acknowledged the significant support provided by UN-Habitat to member states and subnational governments in addressing evolving urban challenges. The agenda of WUF13 is seen as a crucial opportunity to assess progress, identify challenges, and help shape the next phase of implementation.

Kenya was noted as the first country to present a people-centered version of the New Urban Agenda. With only 10 years remaining until the completion of the New Urban Agenda's implementation, the representative expressed hope that the discussions would focus on practical solutions, mutual learning, and cooperation. The participation of various stakeholders is deemed essential in shaping the draft action-oriented political declaration, which is expected to be adopted by the United Nations.
