Khankendi Set to Receive New Residential Buildings in Restoration Initiative

Khankendi: As part of the large-scale construction and restoration works being carried out in the city of Khankendi, new residential buildings will be constructed, said Elchin Yusubov, the Special Representative of the President in Khankendi city, Aghdara, and Khojaly districts, during a panel speech at the Karabakh Education and Partnership Forum held today.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Yusubov noted that the majority of residential buildings currently standing in Khankendi were built during the 1950s-1960s. Most of the multi-story residential buildings located on various streets and avenues of the city, built at that time with the financial support of the Azerbaijani government, have already exceeded their service life. Based on the opinion of relevant authorities, buildings in an emergency condition will be demolished and replaced with modern high-rise residential buildings in accordance with Azerbaijan’s architectural style.

The construction work will not be financed by the state budget but will be implemented by private sector construction companies. This initiative is expected to contribute to sustainable settlement in Khankendi and the creation of new jobs. In summary, the construction efforts led by the private sector aim to positively impact the development of the region’s economy.
