Kyrgyz Expert Highlights Role of Middle Corridor at Upcoming SCO Summit

Baku: The Middle Corridor, a key initiative involving Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan, is set to be a focal point at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek, according to Temirlan Razbaev. Razbaev, an adviser to the Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, emphasized the strategic importance of this corridor and its discussion at the summit.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this year's SCO Summit holds particular significance as it coincides with the 25th anniversary of the organization's founding. Under Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship, the summit will address significant changes within the SCO, including proposed amendments to its Charter. Additionally, discussions will cover future developments in the SCO's financial system, notably the establishment of the SCO Development Bank. The Middle Corridor, crucial to both Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan, will also be a prominent topic of discussion.

Razbaev noted that the SCO was initially formed to combat terrorism and extremism, areas that continue to be of paramount importance. The opening of the organization's Dushanbe Center, aimed at countering terrorism and extremism, is one of the main issues on the summit's agenda. He highlighted the ongoing relevance of cybersecurity and the role Kyrgyzstan plays in assisting other countries with these emerging challenges.
