BISHKEK: Kyrgyzstan is poised to receive a new grant from the World Bank (WB) aimed at supporting various educational initiatives across the country.

According to Trend News Agency, the forthcoming funding was a key topic of discussion in a recent meeting between Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Education and Science, Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, and WB representative Rita Almeida. The dialogue focused on the potential benefits of the International Trust Fund and its role in sustaining long-term educational programs.

The meeting underscored the critical need for transforming Kyrgyzstan’s education system. Initiatives supported by the WB have primarily focused on modernizing education through enhancing teacher qualifications and advancing digital skills among students and educators.

As of the end of July, the World Bank’s involvement in Kyrgyzstan included 24 projects with a total commitment of approximately $1.2 billion, aimed at modernizing and developing various sectors, including education.
