Baku: On the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Edgars Rinkevics, President of the Republic of Latvia, extended sincere congratulations and best wishes to the people of Azerbaijan. President Rinkevics expressed appreciation for the close and friendly relations between Latvia and Azerbaijan.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Rinkevics expressed confidence in the ongoing deepening of the strategic partnership between Latvia and Azerbaijan. He emphasized the shared commitment of both nations to sovereignty, territorial integrity, and a rules-based international order.

President Rinkevics also expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to him and his delegation during their official visit to Azerbaijan from April 21-23, 2026. The visit was highlighted as an opportunity to strengthen strategic ties and advance practical cooperation on various regional and international issues. The participation of Azerbaijan in the Azerbaijan-Latvia Business Forum was particularly valued.

President Rinkevics conveyed his desire to continue the close dialogue and extended an invitation for an official visit to Latvia at a mutually convenient time.
