Baku: Azerbaijan's Media Development Agency has issued a warning to the public regarding a video circulating on social media platforms that falsely represents Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration. The video, created using deepfake technology, is said to contain fake content and does not reflect reality.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Media Development Agency highlighted that the disinformation campaign, generated with artificial intelligence, is aimed at misleading public opinion. The agency expressed concerns that the video seeks to harm the relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey, undermine the strategic alliance between the two countries, and weaken mutual trust.
The agency has urged the public to rely solely on official sources for information and called on journalists and public activists to maintain a principled stance against such disinformation. The Media Development Agency also emphasized the growing threat of campaigns based on fake and fabricated information, as well as content created using deepfake technologies.
Additionally, the agency called upon social media platform owners and relevant authorities to take swift action in removing harmful and fake content. It stressed the importance of implementing effective mechanisms to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
