Stockholm: A classical music concert dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev has been held in Stockholm. The event took place in the "Baroque" hall of the Swedish History Museum and was attended by staff from the Azerbaijani Embassy in Sweden, the head of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus representative office in Stockholm, Hakan Aksoy, representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora from various Swedish cities, guests from Denmark, and Swedish classical music enthusiasts.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the event was organized by the "Gobustan" Society of Azerbaijani Intellectuals with the support of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora. It was initiated by Aynur Malikova, an Azerbaijani pianist residing in Sweden. Before the concert, Saadat Karimi, Chairperson of the "Gobustan" Society, highlighted Heydar Aliyev's significant role in strengthening Azerbaijan's independence and international standing. She emphasized his contributions to the arts and the preservation of Azerbaijan's cultural heritage, noting that Aliyev viewed culture as a vital element of national identity.
The concert program featured works by Azerbaijani and European composers, performed by Aynur Malikova, Swedish flutist Catrin Sp¥ngberg, and Azerbaijani tar player Sakhavat Mammadov. The repertoire included excerpts from Gara Garayev's ballet Path of Thunder, Fikrat Amirov's Six Miniatures, Niyazi's romance Arzu, the "Dance of the Turkish Girls" from Arif Melikov's ballet Legend of Love, alongside Vittorio Monti's Cs¡rd¡s and Astor Piazzolla's Libertango, among other pieces.
The audience received the concert program with great interest, marking a successful celebration of Heydar Aliyev's legacy through the universal language of music.
