Mine Explosion in Aghdara Leaves Resident in Serious Condition

Aghdara: A 1970-born male was seriously injured in a mine explosion near the Shikharkh settlement in the Aghdara district. He was initially treated at the Tartar District Central Hospital before being transferred to the Emergency Medical Aid Department of the Barda District Central Hospital at approximately 17:10 on December 3, 2025, as stated by TABIB in response to an inquiry from APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the individual, identified as Nazim Kamran Panahaliyev, sustained blast trauma and a traumatic amputation of the lower third of his right shin. He is currently undergoing surgery, and his condition remains serious.

The incident occurred while Panahaliyev was grazing cattle in an area of Shikharkh village that had not been cleared of mines, resulting in an anti-personnel mine explosion. The event was confirmed in a joint statement from the Press Services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General’s Office, and the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA), as reported by APA.

The injured man was promptly evacuated to the district hospital. An investigation into the incident is ongoing at the Tartar district prosecutor’s office.

In their joint statement, ANAMA, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Prosecutor General’s Office urged citizens to adhere to safety protocols, be vigilant of mine danger signs, and avoid entering unfamiliar areas.
