Baku: Kazakhstan plans to expand electricity trade with neighboring countries, Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Erlan Akkenzhenov said during the 31st Baku Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Kazakhstan considers the development of energy storage systems as a priority to ensure the sustainable integration of renewable energy sources into its energy system. The minister highlighted ongoing efforts to modernize energy infrastructure, increase the transmission capacity of electricity grids, introduce smart management systems, and develop energy interconnectors.
Erlan Akkenzhenov stated that these initiatives will enhance domestic capabilities and facilitate discussions on electricity trade with neighboring countries in the future. He emphasized Kazakhstan's positive assessment of the APREC initiative by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), viewing it as a crucial platform for deepening regional cooperation.
The minister further added that Kazakhstan is committed to developing cooperation in energy transition through a phased and pragmatic approach that aligns with national priorities and strategic objectives.
