Gobustan: New rock carvings have been discovered in the Kichikdash mountain area of the Gobustan National Historical-Artistic Reserve (NHAR), the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture told APA. The newly uncovered petroglyphs include a hunting scene, a female figure, and numerous parallel lines whose meaning has not yet been fully determined. The depiction of the woman is stylistically similar to other female figures in the Gobustan collection, while the hunting scene stands out for its dynamism and realism.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, another image of particular interest consists of multiple adjacent lines. This motif resembles Gobustan's well-known boat scenes but differs due to the absence of a boat and the density of the lines. Experts are intrigued by these new discoveries and are currently documenting the images and creating their 3D models to facilitate further study.
The Gobustan National Reserve is renowned for its rich collection of ancient rock engravings, and these recent findings add to the cultural and historical significance of the site. The ongoing research and preservation work aims to deepen the understanding of the area's prehistoric inhabitants and their artistic expressions.
